PRO tips - Installing your G-Force Rack
Share
At G-Force, we’re big believers in leaving only footprints. To reduce our environmental impact, we’ve ditched the paper manuals. You won’t find a bulky booklet in your box, but you will find everything you need right here on our FAQs & Installation Page.
Know Your Substrate (What’s behind the paint?)
The most important rule of thumb: Always fix to a structural substrate. Our racks are built heavy-duty, but hey only work as well as the wall they’re attached to.
Stud Walls: Use a stud finder! You want those screws biting into the timber or metal, not just the plasterboard.
Masonry Walls: Bricks and concrete are incredibly secure, but whatever you do, never screw into the mortar. Always aim for the centre of the brick for maximum grip.
The “Measure Twice, Drill Once” Rule
Before you make a hole, hold the rack up with your gear in place (it helps to have a mate hold the board or bike). Check your clearances make sure you aren’t going to bang your head on a pedal or hit a tail against the ceiling. Once you’re stoked with the position, mark your holes with a pencil.
Keep it Level
Nothing ruins the aesthetic of a sleek matte black rack like a 5 degree tilt. Use a spirit level (or a level app on your phone) to ensure your mountain holes are perfectly aligned. Your boards will thank you for the even weight distribution.
Use the Right Gear for the Job
For Stud Walls: See our Stud Wall Installation Guide for the best way to find your timber and secure the load.
For Masonry: Grab a hammer drill and a masonry bit. Check out our Masonry Wall Installation Guide for the step-by-step on using the included wall plugs.
Don’t Over tighten
Our hardware is tough, but you don’t need to go “Hulk” on it. Tighten until the rack is flush and firm against the wall. If you’re using an impact driver, take it easy on the final few turns to avoid stripping the wood or screw head.
